Cubebs are the unripe fruits of a plant belonging to the pepper family. Cubebs are also known as tailed pepper because the berries retain their stems, 'tails', after harvesting. Cubebs have a warm, tupentine-like aroma with a hot, bitter taste, similar to allspice. Cubebs are best known for their medicinal qualities in the East.
